TN Class 12th result 2026: Tamil Nadu recorded a 95.20% pass percentage in the Higher Secondary Certificate examinations for the 2025-2026 academic session, marking a marginal increase from last year’s 95.03%. The Directorate of Government Examinations released the Class 12 results after examinations were conducted between March 2 and March 26, 2026, across 3,412 centres in the state.Out of 7,91,654 students who appeared for the examinations, 7,53,694 cleared the Class 12 board exams. Girls continued to outperform boys in the state board examinations, registering a 97% pass percentage, while boys recorded 93.19%. Erode district emerged as the top-performing district in Tamil Nadu with a pass percentage of 98.87%.
The latest results showed a 0.17% increase in the overall pass percentage compared to the previous year. The number of absentees also declined from 10,049 in 2025 to 7,874 this year.
Girls surpassed boys by 3.81 percentage points this year, compared to a 3.54% difference recorded in 2025.
Of the 7,536 Higher Secondary schools that participated in the examinations, 2,639 schools secured a 100% pass percentage. A total of 5,170 schools recorded pass percentages above 95%.Government schools also showed improvement in performance this year.
Among school types, private schools recorded the highest overall pass percentage at 98.72%, followed by aided schools at 96.14% and government schools at 92.16%.Erode leads district rankingsErode secured the highest district-level pass percentage in Tamil Nadu this year. Sivagangai and Kanyakumari followed closely behind.
In government school performance, Erode again topped the list with 98.24%.Computer science records highest centumsComputer science recorded the highest number of centums in the state with 6,945 students securing full marks. Accountancy followed with 1,946 centums.The board also released statistics for special categories. Differently-abled students recorded a pass percentage of 76.92%, while jail inmates achieved 95.20%. Private candidates registered a 24.18% pass percentage.Supplementary examination schedule announcedThe Directorate of Government Examinations announced that supplementary examinations for Class 12 students will be conducted from June 29 to July 7. Class 11 arrear examinations are scheduled from July 8 to July 16.Applications for supplementary examinations can be submitted between May 18 and June 2, while revaluation and retotalling applications for Class 12 and Class 11 arrear papers will be accepted from June 5 to June 8.Students can continue accessing their results through tnresults.nic.in, dge.tn.gov.in, DigiLocker, SMS and WhatsApp services.
