This month, Apara Ekadashi is going to be observed on 11th day of krishna paksha in the month of Jyeshtha. This month, Apara Ekadashi fast will be observed on May 13, 2026.

Apara Ekadashi 2026: Significance

Ekadashi is one of the most auspicious days in Hindu religion. The day holds a great religious and spiritual importance. This day is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu and all the Vaishnav devotees observe strict fast starting from sunrise and they break it on the next day or on Dwadashi tithi after parana. This fast is believed to bring spiritual growth, self discipline, inner peace and awareness in life. The one who observe fast with pure devotion, get blessed by the Lord with a lot of positivity, abundance, prosperity and they get a place in the abode of Lord Vishnu after their death. People observe this fast to get the liberation from the cycle of birth and death. The word Apar means limitless and Pandavas observed fast on this particular day to win the battle against Kauravas. In order to purify their bodies, minds, and souls, devotees follow this fast. Throughout the day, they engage in a variety of religious and spiritual practices. It is said that by keeping this fast on Apara Ekadashi, people can even be saved.

Apara Ekadashi 2026: Puja Rituals

1. Devotees begin puja rituals early in the morning.2. Set up an idol of Lord Vishnu, light a diya with desi ghee, and present garlands or flowers.3. Prepare panchamrit (milk, ghee, curd, honey, and sugar) and sattvik bhog prasad.4. On the day of Ekadashi, one must spend their day chanting this mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaye”.5. Recite Lord Vishnu aarti and offer prepared bhog prasad.6. To seek blessings, the majority of devotees visit the temple of Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu.7. The fast is broken on the next day, dwadashi tithi.8. Devotees who are unable to control their hunger can eat satvik food in the evening others can break it on the next day.
