Saudi Arabia arrests over 14,000 illegal residents in week-long crackdown, thousands deported
Saudi Arabia arrested 14,487 illegal residents in a week, with thousands deported and others processed.

Saudi Arabia has arrested 14,487 illegal residents during a week-long nationwide crackdown, the Ministry of Interior said.The arrests were made between April 9 and April 15 as part of joint inspection campaigns carried out by security forces in coordination with other government agencies.Of those detained, 7,911 were found violating residency laws, 3,588 breached border security regulations, and 2,988 were linked to labour law violations.Authorities said 21,127 individuals have been referred to their diplomatic missions to secure travel documents, while 11,240 are completing travel arrangements. So far, 12,554 people have been deported.Security forces also intercepted 1,382 individuals attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally. Officials said 38 per cent were Yemeni nationals, 61 per cent Ethiopian, and the remaining one per cent belonged to other nationalities. In addition, 43 people were caught trying to leave the country unlawfully.The ministry said 23 individuals were arrested for assisting violators by providing transport, shelter or employment.A total of 39,258 expatriates — including 35,460 men and 3,798 women — are currently undergoing legal procedures.The Ministry of Interior warned that anyone found helping illegal entry, transport or sheltering offenders could face up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to SR1 million. Vehicles and properties used in such activities may also be confiscated.Authorities urged the public to report violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and 999 or 996 in other regions.
