NEW DELHI: Lungi Ngidi has finally broken his silence after suffering a frightening injury during the IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, assuring fans that he is recovering well.The South African pacer took to Instagram to thank supporters for their concern and issued an update on his condition.“Thank you for the messages, all good,” Ngidi wrote in his first public reaction after the injury scare, easing fears over his condition, while sharing a story on Instagram.Ngidi has since been discharged from a Delhi hospital after the incident. The fast bowler suffered a worrying fall on the back of his head and neck during the match and was taken to BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital for observation.

Delhi Capitals co-owner and chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi also visited the hospital to check on the pacer’s condition.Despite KL Rahul’s sensational 152*, a record-breaking 126-run opening stand between Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, and a blistering 71* from skipper Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings pulled off a historic chase of 265 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Lungi Ngidi suffered a frightening on-field injury during the IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, leaving him momentarily unconscious and bringing the match to a complete halt as players from both sides looked visibly shaken.The incident took place in the third over of Punjab Kings’ innings, bowled by Axar Patel, when Priyansh Arya lofted a shot towards the deep. Ngidi, stationed in the outfield, judged it well and moved backwards to attempt what appeared to be a routine catch.However, as he stretched while going back, he lost his balance and failed to get even a fingertip to the ball. In the process, he landed heavily on the back of his head and neck, triggering immediate alarm on the field.Medical staff rushed in quickly as players from both teams gathered around. The game was halted for over 10 minutes while Ngidi received on-field treatment before being stretchered off and taken to hospital in an ambulance for further evaluation.The severity of the fall prompted immediate concern, with Vipraj Nigam brought in as a concussion substitute. Despite the scary incident, the IPL later confirmed that Ngidi was stable and expected to be discharged.He was admitted to BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital in Delhi and later discharged after observation. Delhi Capitals co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi also visited the hospital to check on his condition.
